In August we discovered we were relocating to Calgary, so life kind of went a little crazy in order to be moved and settled in time for school to start on September 4th. The move happened in time for school, but the 'settled in new accommodation' didn't happen until much later in the month. </span><br />

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">4. Dining room chairs - I have being waiting to use my stash of Fragile fabrics by Zen Chic for the perfect project. I eventually decided what that was! I am making cushions for our dining room chairs. I have been meaning to do this for years! Better late than never I guess! </span></div>

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">I am currently knitting a pair of socks as a test knit for some local designers, <a href="https://www.ravelry.com/people/KnoxMountainKnits" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Knox Mountain Knits</a>. I love their patterns and this one is no exception. Until now most of their patterns have been hats, mitts or shawls. These things don't often take me too long to knit. But these socks have been more time consuming for me and have been taking me away from the sewing machine a little. Although I have enjoyed evenings of sofa time knitting after a busy day.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-oBdIy_XVkcE/WrfA1gYhqVI/AAAAAAAAEbU/6BaNpe6wDT0U8rKIfviuObpSisDWbGQLQCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_2204.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="320" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-oBdIy_XVkcE/WrfA1gYhqVI/AAAAAAAAEbU/6BaNpe6wDT0U8rKIfviuObpSisDWbGQLQCLcBGAs/s320/IMG_2204.jpg" width="240" /></a> <a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-7zFQI_f5dB4/WrfNbNEdvvI/AAAAAAAAEb8/EDp70fxs9ZAW6ivEtra313-ZrRfbWx-yQCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_2203.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-7zFQI_f5dB4/WrfNbNEdvvI/AAAAAAAAEb8/EDp70fxs9ZAW6ivEtra313-ZrRfbWx-yQCLcBGAs/s320/IMG_2203.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">The other day, however, I wanted to sew and I wanted a quick project. So I decided to make a new knitting pouch to put the sock project in. These socks have attended swimming lessons, soccer games, strings concerts and just waiting in the car! So I know a new pouch will get well used.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">I have had some cork fabric sitting around for a while and it was telling me to use it. I used the tutorial by <a href="http://www.stitchmischief.com/2014/04/another-approach-open-wide-zippered.html" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Stitchmischief</a>, which is really easy to follow. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">I also chose to use some of my stashed Blueberry Park fabric too. They really shouldn't just sit on my shelf forever more! It turned out better than I expected and only took me 1 day to make! The perfect project. </span><br />

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">With plenty of room for a sock knitting project! </span></div>

<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">It would appear that other members of the quilt group have not been waiting until the end of the month to swap boxes and have raced ahead a little. So this month I have done the same thing and made a few blocks.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">The first couple of blocks made for this challenge can be seen <a href="http://createthepoint.blogspot.ca/2018/02/quilt-group-box-exchange.html" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">here</a>.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">First up this month was a paper pieced block. The paper and the starting white square was provided and I picked the colour orange. I do like orange. It's a bright and fun, and I actually have orange fabrics unlike some other colours! This block came together so quickly and easily! I am tempted to make a quilt like this for myself!! This quilt is going to be a rainbow quilt and I think it will look fantastic when finished. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Z9qLtaWChXg/Wrbrf5fZO6I/AAAAAAAAEas/WiPrKiGBzLk0X51mcNj5BZBFtA3bZSabgCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_2224.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1596" data-original-width="1600" height="398" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Z9qLtaWChXg/Wrbrf5fZO6I/AAAAAAAAEas/WiPrKiGBzLk0X51mcNj5BZBFtA3bZSabgCLcBGAs/s400/IMG_2224.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Next up the description said to make a black/red/grey 10" modern block. I looked up modern blocks to gain some inspiration. The definition of modern can be so encompassing. Modern I can be interpreted in a variety of different ways. For instance, a traditional block in modern fabrics, or maybe a modern block with a twist. A variety of fabrics were provided with this box, so I used several of them. I chose to make a star block. The instructions were for a 6 inch block and as I am discovering I struggle to do the math to make the block the size I want. This block should have been on more of a faulty angle, but sadly I didn't cut some of my fabrics big enough be able to do that properly. So my block doesn't look quite the way I had envisioned, but I like it and I think it looks reasonably modern next to the other ones in the box already.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-5-D-AulyfhM/Wrbsxt4NyMI/AAAAAAAAEa4/9QuwcdE0JCMqThqK2g3DtaUJkkBSf5nugCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_2250.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1567" height="320" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-5-D-AulyfhM/Wrbsxt4NyMI/AAAAAAAAEa4/9QuwcdE0JCMqThqK2g3DtaUJkkBSf5nugCLcBGAs/s320/IMG_2250.jpg" width="313" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Lastly for this month, I had to make a disappearing block using black and white with a splash of red. It would appear that black and white are not fabrics I gravitate towards when shopping! So I struggled to find these in my stash. And they look quite different to the other black and white fabrics used in the other blocks in the box. The other ladies choice of fabrics are more flowery, so I hope my block doesn't stand out too much. This was a fun one to make. Making a 9 patch with some plain and some HSTs and then slicing it up and sewing it back together in a different order. I like this block, I just hope it fits in with the others ok.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-u0btO7CZkfA/Wrbt0P8kW5I/AAAAAAAAEbA/QCv-wtNx4_oXMMKLBFYlEYTbPfxldZYXgCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_2249.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1592" height="320" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-u0btO7CZkfA/Wrbt0P8kW5I/AAAAAAAAEbA/QCv-wtNx4_oXMMKLBFYlEYTbPfxldZYXgCLcBGAs/s320/IMG_2249.jpg" width="318" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">At the beginning of each meeting we have a quick show and tell of the boxes. The owner of the box is not allowed to see all the blocks until the end of the exchange, but everyone else gets to see the blocks. This is really fun and interesting to see everyones interpretation of the box theme!</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

</span> <span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">For the first few months I managed to stay on top of the blocks as they were published but then I got behind and had to play catch up and that took me quite some time.</span><br />

</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">I had grand designs for the back, more piecing and more blocks. <div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Last September was the quilter for our Do Good Stitches group - the Happiness Circle. So I chose a wonky, improv type log cabin. The colour scheme was turquoise/aquas and greys with the centre blocks being a red or yellow. Here are the two blocks I made for the quilt.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br />
</span> <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">And here are all the blocks I received. Our group is not quite 12 so I was lacking a few, but luckily I have enough of these colours in my stash to make up the blocks.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-M79v7PClclc/WoEfX7AK_YI/AAAAAAAAEDk/6vIqX0XUSgINF9HS9C4cxnGTIpopOso3QCEwYBhgL/s1600/IMG_1675.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1325" height="400" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-M79v7PClclc/WoEfX7AK_YI/AAAAAAAAEDk/6vIqX0XUSgINF9HS9C4cxnGTIpopOso3QCEwYBhgL/s400/IMG_1675.jpg" width="331" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">To make it a little bigger I decided to add a border around the edge and I had some Kona ash that worked well and made it just the right size.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br />
</span> <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-QnX0N5Qsesw/WoEfnIFRMVI/AAAAAAAAEDI/hXoszoYglKoi-7nl1yrzZKaVfqkDyoGRwCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_1706.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1380" data-original-width="1600" height="345" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-QnX0N5Qsesw/WoEfnIFRMVI/AAAAAAAAEDI/hXoszoYglKoi-7nl1yrzZKaVfqkDyoGRwCLcBGAs/s400/IMG_1706.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">As usual, I didn't have enough of a single fabric for the backing. So I made a back in the style of the front - a large log cabin block. I am trying to use up some of the fabrics I have had for a long time, so this was perfect. I rather like the large style block.</span><br />

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br />
</span> <span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Having done several quilts lately that required lots of quilting I was ready for a fast finish, so </span><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">I kept the quilting simple on this quilt.</span><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"> </span><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">I did organic lines across the quilt, super fast!</span><br />

<br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">And look a label. I am terrible at labeling quilts. But this was simple as I was sent this little label and just had to attach it. They are perfect. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br />
</span> <br />

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">When binding a quilt I usually opt to machine stitch the binding in place and then finish by hand. But this time I thought I would try sewing the binding down by machine. I have done this before but find I have to take it out more times than I can bare because it just doesn't work well. But this time it went like a dream, I couldn't believe it. No seam ripping!! </span></div>

<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I recently joined a small quilt group that just started meeting on Friday evenings again. It's really informal and we meet at someones house. I have been taking my binding to finish, a perfect project to carry around. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">This week we started a quilt box exchange. We each create a box with a theme, colour scheme and a sample block. Each month we swap the boxes and make a block for that box according to the instructions inside. There are 10 of us taking part so towards the end of the year we should all have almost enough blocks for a quilt. </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">There is quite a range of themes - summer, simple patchwork blocks, disappearing blocks, Christmas, shabby chic and Halloween. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">My theme is halloween and my colours are purple, green and orange because they were the colours in my halloween fabrics! I decided to give two options for blocks I'd like. Firstly, a wonky star block made using the tutorial <a href="http://fiberofallsorts.blogspot.ca/2013/02/my-favorite-quilt-block-wonky-star.html" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">here</a>, and a choice of sizes. I am not thinking a rigid 4 x 3 quilt layout, so hopefully I will get a mixture of sizes, or I'll just make some myself.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-rXlQTmTuj24/WoEnkHUgc8I/AAAAAAAAED8/3pe1hQ-HUesGJarWoO9RBqq5PE-EnxltQCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_1848.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1599" height="400" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-rXlQTmTuj24/WoEnkHUgc8I/AAAAAAAAED8/3pe1hQ-HUesGJarWoO9RBqq5PE-EnxltQCLcBGAs/s400/IMG_1848.jpg" width="397" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">12.5" Wonky Star</span></td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-LqNAwzpjF0c/WoEnzSi8FgI/AAAAAAAAEEE/4pFtOAwKk30ch4lOLDyLt445s-0gIeEsACLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_1849.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1584" height="400" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-LqNAwzpjF0c/WoEnzSi8FgI/AAAAAAAAEEE/4pFtOAwKk30ch4lOLDyLt445s-0gIeEsACLcBGAs/s400/IMG_1849.jpg" width="395" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">6.5" Wonky Star</span></td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">The second choice of block is a halloween style block and my example block is a haunted house made using paper piecing. The colours don't look as distinct here as they actually are. The orange and yellow look the same, but they are actually quite different.</span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ohg7cI-QvRU/WoEog-vfIzI/AAAAAAAAEEQ/ZCHh0KiXG7MFs4NusUYXuu0vRgE0l36KQCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_1847.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1454" data-original-width="1600" height="362" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ohg7cI-QvRU/WoEog-vfIzI/AAAAAAAAEEQ/ZCHh0KiXG7MFs4NusUYXuu0vRgE0l36KQCLcBGAs/s400/IMG_1847.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">We don't get to see the blocks being made for us until the end of the swap, which is going to be really hard when the boxes are in the room. Guess that's part of the fun!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">This month the box I received had instructions to make a light pink and grey simple patchwork block. Luckily the light pink fabrics were provided as I don't have much in the way of that colour these days. I just happen to have a book out of the library - The Quilt Block Cookbook by Amy Gibson with lots of individual blocks. So I chose the Winding block from this book and made it: </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-UfnWEFLR3aI/WoEpiUto-6I/AAAAAAAAEEY/9xRM1VtDeQkgWvU1ccQ_8uHpTXiCKyJ7gCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_1866.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1568" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-UfnWEFLR3aI/WoEpiUto-6I/AAAAAAAAEEY/9xRM1VtDeQkgWvU1ccQ_8uHpTXiCKyJ7gCLcBGAs/s400/IMG_1866.jpg" width="391" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Windsong</span></td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Looking forward to swapping the box at the end of the month and having to make another random block. I like variety so this is great for entertainment.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">The final Harry Potter quilt is finished. Yay!! [Happy dance going on here]</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br />
</span> <span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">This one is a bit different to the first two (see <a href="http://createthepoint.blogspot.ca/2018/01/harry-potter-1-finish.html" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">here</a> and <a href="http://createthepoint.blogspot.ca/2018/01/harry-potter-2-finish.html" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">here</a>). This quilt is for my eldest child who has finished all the books and watched all the films many times! She doesn't play the lego game like the other two kids so she wouldn't get some of the references that <a href="http://www.whimsandfancies.com/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Whims and Fancies</a> made for including certain blocks in her quilt along. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br />
</span> <span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Instead I went for some more typical Harry Potter characteristics. Like for instance a some of the the elder wand and some of the key characters:</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br />
</span> <span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Harry</span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-LTG7_Q1jMJc/Wl_C7zER0QI/AAAAAAAAEA4/zcXP8pPZV1cx9cBo1f_wJCuvH5SMJeaeACLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_1406.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1280" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-LTG7_Q1jMJc/Wl_C7zER0QI/AAAAAAAAEA4/zcXP8pPZV1cx9cBo1f_wJCuvH5SMJeaeACLcBGAs/s400/IMG_1406.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br />
</span> <span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Hagrid</span><br />

<br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">The eyes were tricky on these blocks. One of Hagrid's eyes had I think 15 pieces and measured about an inch! Such tiny pieces! Not what is needed when in a rush! And I enlarged the blocks to be closer to 12 inches.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br />

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br />
</span> <span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">I saw the old Ford Anglia and just had to include that too and the bus. I didn't take photos of all the blocks as I was too consumed with time running out and forever moving onto the next block! I was also unable to post anything to my usual IG account as my eldest daughter follows me and it would have spoiled any kind of remaining surprise. So it never occurred to me to take a photos on completion of a block. They often wander into my sewing room and occasionally I would forget I had stuck a block on the wall, so there's a very good chance they saw some of the construction phases.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br />

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br />
</span> <span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">This quilt top was completed on Christmas Eve at about 4.30pm with the aid of some wine. Fortunately I had done just about everything else I had to do for the big day, so I was able to spend some time frantically getting the top together and kind of basted so I could at least hand it over in a somewhat complete state. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br />
</span> <span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Here is the final quilt:</span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I nearly did a temperature quilt last year. Looking back now, I'm so pleased I didn't start it as I don't think it would have made it very far. But with many of my WIPs well on their way and no other quilt alongs or big sewing commitments I've decided to do it.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I pulled my fabrics. It just had to be Moda's Grunge and Kona solids! My plan is to do a diamond in a square block for each day of 2018. The background will be the solids and represent the low temperatures, and the diamond in grunge the high temps.</span><br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-1LF5bbWMisA/WmbUrvk7C7I/AAAAAAAAEB4/dqI6Cj-KBhQ0v8m5RbPVGB7W2IUpXT0kgCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_1715.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="640" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-1LF5bbWMisA/WmbUrvk7C7I/AAAAAAAAEB4/dqI6Cj-KBhQ0v8m5RbPVGB7W2IUpXT0kgCLcBGAs/s640/IMG_1715.jpg" width="480" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Fabric Pull</span></td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">So far I have done the first 10 days of January! Not sure I like playing catch up, so once I am caught up I'm going to have to try and stay on top of it or I can see it will slip out of control! </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Jan 1-10</span></td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">There's quite a few here that are the same colours. I guess we've had a fairly stable temperature so far, although at times it hasn't always felt like it. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>

</tbody></table>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I am working in degrees C, and have assigned 2 degrees per colour starting with <-3 up to >33. I have a range of 20 colours both in grunge and solids. We'll see how this turns out. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I really need to print out my list of temperatures and stick my little reference squares on it as I keep getting confused as to what colour goes with what temperatures. Maybe being more organised will help with keeping on track.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">It sure does feel good to get another one of these quilts finished. Pretty much the same as the first (see the post <a href="http://createthepoint.blogspot.ca/2018/01/harry-potter-1-finish.html" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">here</a>), although a couple of blocks are different as I was struggling with the second block syndrome. How people repeat the same things over and over I do not know. For me I like variety so making the same thing more than once is tiresome. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-5lFp-3Ga0U4/WlRT1QWHtPI/AAAAAAAAD-U/6fWHW-3pKBoHD_Wr8ur4WQoxt82uJF5KwCPcBGAYYCw/s1600/IMG_1670.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1473" height="400" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-5lFp-3Ga0U4/WlRT1QWHtPI/AAAAAAAAD-U/6fWHW-3pKBoHD_Wr8ur4WQoxt82uJF5KwCPcBGAYYCw/s400/IMG_1670.jpg" width="367" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">In this quilt the added blocks are the Wesley box and the Knight bus and I omitted the Time Turner as it was such a big block. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Again the quilting is kept large and focused on outline parts of the individual blocks just to reduce the large areas of non-quilting. Here is the final quilt:</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">This was finished a while ago, I was just waiting until we had some nice weather to be able to take a picture.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Back in June 2016 I joined in a Harry Potter quilt a long being hosted by Soma at </span><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><a href="http://www.whimsandfancies.com/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Whims and Fancies</a>. The blocks were posted on a monthly basis with a few breaks here and there to allow catch up if necessary! I kept up reasonably well with the blocks and made progress. Some of the blocks can be seen <a href="https://createthepoint.blogspot.ca/2016/08/hermiones-bookcase-harry-potter-qal.html" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">here</a>, <a href="https://createthepoint.blogspot.ca/2016/08/hedwig-harry-potter-qal.html" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">here</a> and <a href="https://createthepoint.blogspot.ca/2016/12/more-harry-potter.html" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">here</a>.</span><br />
<div>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">But then towards the end of the quilt along I was uncertain who I was making the quilt for. With 3 kids all enjoying Harry Potter in various stages of progress who would receive the quilt. After mulling the idea for a while I started to duplicate some of the blocks and came up with the plan to make 3 quilts as Christmas gifts. </span><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">This was the state of the blocks in April 2017, loads of time til Christmas!!</span></div>
<div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td><a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-sAuu6EeSELg/WOMTUnrxzEI/AAAAAAAADuA/UieWqBVkWs4BX-J2vD2RAzR8GuGImqi9gCPcBGAYYCw/s1600/IMG_9201.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="300" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-sAuu6EeSELg/WOMTUnrxzEI/AAAAAAAADuA/UieWqBVkWs4BX-J2vD2RAzR8GuGImqi9gCPcBGAYYCw/s400/IMG_9201.jpg" width="400" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="font-size: 12.800000190734863px;"><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Some of the Harry Potter blocks</span></td></tr>
</tbody></table>
</div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">As ever with these things, time marched on, other things needed attention, summer hit and progress slowed considerably. </span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">By October I had managed to complete enough blocks to actually construct one quilt top. Not really knowing what to do about the backing I decided to take a chance on the Fireside backing that I had heard quite a bit about but never used. I was very impressed with it. Very cosy and it quilted very easily, which I must confess I was not expecting. </span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">I was lucky enough to go to a quilting retreat in November for a weekend and I actually managed to get the majority of it quilted and the binding sewn on. I stippled around the blocks not wanting to detract from the blocks. I tried to keep the quilting large and not too detailed to retain the cosiness of the fireside backing. I think it worked. </span><br />

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Last year didn't see many finishes but I did complete several quilt tops. So this year I am determined to complete some projects. A lot of my sewing late in the year was secret sewing as I attempted to complete four quilts for Christmas. This was a little too ambitious. I didn't manage to complete any of them, but I did get them all to either basted or half quilted.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br />
</span> <span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">So my list of things to finish include:</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br />
</span> <span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">First up are the Harry Potter quilts I was frantically trying to get done for my 3 kids for Christmas. They were gifted in various states of unfinish. I have promised to get these done as soon as I can so they are my priority!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br />
</span> <span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">1. Harry Potter quilt number 1 - a few of the larger blocks require a little bit of quilting and the binding finished. Oh, and a label.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br />

</span> <span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Other things with less priority:</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br />
</span> <span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">5. Do Good Stitches - I need to make a couple more of these blocks in order to complete the quilt top. The blocks have come from the ladies of the Happiness Circle Do Good Stitches group. Given I will be the quilter again in a few months I need to complete this one so I don't have too much of a back log!!</span><br />

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br />
</span> <span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">6. Tula Pink City Sampler - I don't really expect too much progress on this one this quarter, but I can aim high! It needs the backing finished and then basting. </span><br />

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Another quarter has gone by and I have still not completed anything on the list! I have made progress on most of it though! I really should just work on one thing at a time, but where is the fun in that!</span><br />
<div>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br />
</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">1. Tula Pink City Sampler -- I am still piecing the backing using left over fabrics and it is nearly complete. I ran out of the Kona bone so stopped to order more. Although, that said, I have had it rather a long time now, so I just need to actually sew it to the rest of the backing and it's done. </span></div>

But for now I continue to, gradually, duplicate some of the blocks. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">So that's it. My main focus is to complete the rainbow 9-patch quilt this quarter! Although progress on the others would be good too! I really want to complete something!</span></div>

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">I really don't know how we are into April already. I completed nothing on my list for last quarter, but did make some progress on some. I am going to shorten my list for this quarter and see if that helps the focus.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br />
</span> <span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">1. Tula Pink City Sampler - the top is complete. I am in need of a little more fabric to complete the back and then I can get this one basted together. Maybe this quarter I can get it done.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br />
</span> <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-jnAkLF7GtvY/WN8uaqDTR5I/AAAAAAAADtc/c2Srq9c3jAkSpOB1-Dg0gcuUiWlCeWKrACLcB/s1600/IMG_8841.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-jnAkLF7GtvY/WN8uaqDTR5I/AAAAAAAADtc/c2Srq9c3jAkSpOB1-Dg0gcuUiWlCeWKrACLcB/s640/IMG_8841.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br />
</span> <span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">2. Rainbow 9-patch - I corrected the two blocks that were in the wrong place, and I have made a few extra blocks to add to the top and bottom. I have started to create the back. I sometimes wish I could just bring myself to buy enough fabric to have a plain back, as I'm sure I'd finish more quilts that way! </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br />

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br />
</span> <span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">3. Dr Who! Still no progress - but I am hoping this week I might be able to lay it out and see how the plan is coming along.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br />
</span> <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-PhBe4Z8lJJk/V_xqeuRncxI/AAAAAAAADUY/yMMuTQ6S40Ix4t-okIbRxFypMOPMb2G2wCPcB/s1600/IMG_4303.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="556" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-PhBe4Z8lJJk/V_xqeuRncxI/AAAAAAAADUY/yMMuTQ6S40Ix4t-okIbRxFypMOPMb2G2wCPcB/s640/IMG_4303.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br />
</span> <span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">4. Harry Potter - I have been quilting along with Whims and Fancies (<a href="http://www.whimsandfancies.com/lego-harry-potter-quilt-along/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">here</a>) when she started her quilt along back in July last year. She is publishing a couple of blocks monthly but there have been several breaks too which is great for playing catch up. When the kids saw my blocks, there was a small dispute over who this quilt would actually be for especially as all 3 kids are Harry Potter fans. So I am now making 3 quilts! I am gradually duplicating some of the blocks and adding a few extras that I have found else where on the internet. This is the collection so far.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br />

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br />
</span><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br />
</span> <span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">That is all I am going to list for now as I really do want to make some major progress on all these quilts this quarter! My plan is to gift all but the Tula Pink Sampler by the end of the year! I have set myself quite the challenge there, but should be achievable (I hope!).</span><br />

<span style="font-family: verdana, sans-serif;">I have been knitting quite a bit this last month or so and it made me realize how much of a mess my needles were in. On the whole they live in a box or original packaging. So I decided to rectify this issue and put them all together into a more appropriate holder.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-lyiWyryrUN8/WN8gt1TEyZI/AAAAAAAADsw/15QiItdq2oAEoLZvyP-uCWeI3coQvn5FwCLcB/s1600/IMG_8936.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-lyiWyryrUN8/WN8gt1TEyZI/AAAAAAAADsw/15QiItdq2oAEoLZvyP-uCWeI3coQvn5FwCLcB/s400/IMG_8936.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<span style="font-family: verdana, sans-serif;">After searching google, I found a tutorial <a href="http://craftyavocado.blogspot.ca/2012/01/double-point-needle-case.html" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">here</a> by Crafty Avocado for a double pointed needle case. I am a big fan of Zen Chic fabrics and surprisingly I still have some Juggling Summer fabrics left. So I made a dpn case to hold them all.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-FFt2z9nymfI/WN8gZao6KZI/AAAAAAAADsk/yESmLrCkEBYCRktSw5jPGDDVf9dHDhvwQCEw/s1600/IMG_8926.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-FFt2z9nymfI/WN8gZao6KZI/AAAAAAAADsk/yESmLrCkEBYCRktSw5jPGDDVf9dHDhvwQCEw/s400/IMG_8926.jpg" width="306" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ZVdtnsofzow/WNfn5SNWdSI/AAAAAAAADsI/RgZRB9H1-7Uf0m55MZV09CCma4aOrklfACPcB/s1600/IMG_8930.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ZVdtnsofzow/WNfn5SNWdSI/AAAAAAAADsI/RgZRB9H1-7Uf0m55MZV09CCma4aOrklfACPcB/s400/IMG_8930.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-XPtuvVbTPFg/WN8gqHXkQRI/AAAAAAAADss/h3aJ8zgo9kYj-mOEmN5CAtKXkXR0TAyzQCEw/s1600/IMG_8934.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-XPtuvVbTPFg/WN8gqHXkQRI/AAAAAAAADss/h3aJ8zgo9kYj-mOEmN5CAtKXkXR0TAyzQCEw/s400/IMG_8934.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<span style="font-family: verdana, sans-serif;">I like that it has a flap to prevent the needles from falling out! </span><br />
<span style="font-family: verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: verdana, sans-serif;">So having sorted out one set of needles, I had to make another for the circular needles as these get into even more of a state than the others. This time I found some long lost linen fabrics in my stash with sheep on - how appropriate! I made sure I fussy cut so make the most of these adorable sheep.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-rgUGMwFI99w/WN8ifMqohEI/AAAAAAAADs4/eviIjY9PupECYlKPXHve4uLLlSSsYHgOwCLcB/s1600/IMG_8939.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="373" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-rgUGMwFI99w/WN8ifMqohEI/AAAAAAAADs4/eviIjY9PupECYlKPXHve4uLLlSSsYHgOwCLcB/s400/IMG_8939.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: verdana, sans-serif;">I pretty much used the same pattern as before, but made some adjustments to fit the needles in. And here's a picture of the inside:</span><br />
<span style="font-family: verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-HBE20c7OCkk/WN8icgLEBfI/AAAAAAAADs0/0UYdvkVI2aoQrohOLjKztbtK91ib6U0YwCEw/s1600/IMG_8943.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-HBE20c7OCkk/WN8icgLEBfI/AAAAAAAADs0/0UYdvkVI2aoQrohOLjKztbtK91ib6U0YwCEw/s400/IMG_8943.JPG" width="300" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: verdana, sans-serif;">I then decided that this would make a great gift for my mum (who has the same needle storing issue!) as a Mother's Day gift. She is also a big Zen Chic fan so I mixed the sheep linen with some of my most coveted comma fabrics.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-uE_s7bEZuAg/WN8jeR7_AaI/AAAAAAAADs8/59VBBVJ4hOgcQum94njkpKL3uau7TmSbwCLcB/s1600/IMG_8998.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-uE_s7bEZuAg/WN8jeR7_AaI/AAAAAAAADs8/59VBBVJ4hOgcQum94njkpKL3uau7TmSbwCLcB/s400/IMG_8998.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-1d4Mrl1VL4k/WN8jou4dItI/AAAAAAAADtA/PUCosprRg_o0Uq2IL7MqJRBbKJsTVH82QCLcB/s1600/IMG_8999.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="352" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-1d4Mrl1VL4k/WN8jou4dItI/AAAAAAAADtA/PUCosprRg_o0Uq2IL7MqJRBbKJsTVH82QCLcB/s400/IMG_8999.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">This time I added some clear vinyl to allow some labels to be added. Wish I'd done this to mine. I'm hoping she'll send me a picture of her case loaded up with her needles. I suspect she's got way more than will fit in this single case but it's a start.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-QSAq2dNUgbo/WN8jsek9w-I/AAAAAAAADtE/DizxOZxmtWAN4BYpb5I2pb8NPaQlRHYEQCLcB/s1600/IMG_9002.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="336" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-QSAq2dNUgbo/WN8jsek9w-I/AAAAAAAADtE/DizxOZxmtWAN4BYpb5I2pb8NPaQlRHYEQCLcB/s400/IMG_9002.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: verdana, sans-serif;">I also finished a couple of knitting projects lately. Firstly, a pair of mittens. The Myra pattern is by Knox Mountain Co. (<a href="http://www.ravelry.com/designers/knox-mountain-knit-co" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">here</a> on Ravelry) and I test knit it for them. It's a lovely pattern and knits up easily, when concentrating! My only real problem is knitting two of the same thing, so when my mitts didn't match in size I was not too surprised. I took the second one apart and redid it. So now they match! For this project I used a Rowan Worsted Washable Wool.</span><br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-hcjfZpag8oM/WN8njYzR5kI/AAAAAAAADtQ/_uvND4Epwes8w2ub_s7i0fPTmhHvwxV-wCLcB/s1600/IMG_8907.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-hcjfZpag8oM/WN8njYzR5kI/AAAAAAAADtQ/_uvND4Epwes8w2ub_s7i0fPTmhHvwxV-wCLcB/s400/IMG_8907.jpg" width="300" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Myra Mitts</span></td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<span style="font-family: verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: verdana, sans-serif;">Over the last couple of weeks I test knit a second of their patterns, the Trader's Cove Hat. It's not quite published yet, but I believe next week sometime (April 2017). This was really fun. The pattern is easily remembered after the first round. I used a Madelinetosh merino DK in Fog for this knit and it's so soft and squidgy, I love it. I knit the slouchy hat so it's a bit bigger and you have to be careful not to look like a gnome with it standing up straight!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I'm thinking it needs a pompom. Not sure I have enough of the wool left though and I haven't found anywhere to find one of those fluffy ones I have seen other people using. So for now it's pompom less.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">It's kind of a shame that our winter looks to be finally coming to an end as I am not going to get to wear this much now. But so ready for next winter!</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Now that I have finished these quick projects I really must focus more on finishing some of the quilts I have on the go! </span></div>

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">A new year! A new list with some of the old WIPs still on it, and some new projects too. My list never seems to get any shorter, but I'm ok with that (for now!). </span>I found a couple of quilt alongs that started this month and I just couldn't resist joining in, but that's another story! </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span></span>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Again, I'm going to list everything here to keep track and hope that some get some attention and not completely forgotten.</span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span></span>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">1. </span><span style="background-color: white;"><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Tula Pink City Sampler - I have made some progress on my 100days100blocks quilt in the last few days. I have now sashed all 100 blocks and decided on the layout (that took quite some time!). Now to sewing it all together into a quilt top.</span></span></span><br />

<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="background-color: white; font-family: verdana, sans-serif;">(this is going to be one huge quilt!)</span></div>

</span></span> <span style="background-color: white;"><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">2. Rainbow 9-patch - I started this one in November hoping to have it done for my daughter's birthday! Ha, well that was far too ambitious. I have many more 2.5" squares ready for sewing around as a border, I want it a bit bigger than it is at the moment. This one definitely has a deadline this year.</span></span><br />

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">A quick update on my progress with the Harry Potter quilt along blocks. Patterns are published by Soma at <a href="http://www.whimsandfancies.com/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Whims and Fancies</a>.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: "verdana";"></span><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">The first two blocks in August were Hermione's bookcase (<a href="http://createthepoint.blogspot.ca/2016/08/hermiones-bookcase-harry-potter-qal.html" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">here</a>) and Hedwig (<a href="http://createthepoint.blogspot.ca/2016/08/hedwig-harry-potter-qal.html" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">here</a>). The next two were the deluminator and the Weasley Box. I was thankful that we had two months to complete these, as time ran away with me! But here they are:</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: "verdana";"></span><br /></span>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Mm__I_w4gNY/WEHkTdPl54I/AAAAAAAADow/wepoXyyuvLAM3VxbxFS1hOd6TCh9GBgIwCLcB/s1600/box.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><img border="0" height="391" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Mm__I_w4gNY/WEHkTdPl54I/AAAAAAAADow/wepoXyyuvLAM3VxbxFS1hOd6TCh9GBgIwCLcB/s400/box.jpg" width="400" /></span></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Y2GjFwh8JoU/WEHkTdofoYI/AAAAAAAADo0/KetZflnh1HUASeaGDEdLAsF8mOyJiC7aQCLcB/s1600/delimuniator.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Y2GjFwh8JoU/WEHkTdofoYI/AAAAAAAADo0/KetZflnh1HUASeaGDEdLAsF8mOyJiC7aQCLcB/s400/delimuniator.jpg" width="400" /></span></a></div>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: "verdana";"></span><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Next came Crookshanks and the Time Turner. I'm not sure I am completely happy with the colourings of Crookshanks but it looked ok when I pulled them from the shelf! It is what it is, no way am I undoing it!</span><br />

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">The Time Turner was a big block and I think I mixed up some of the colours but again, I'm not undoing it. It's probably only me that would fuss over where I think I went wrong. I like the end block and that's why counts!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: "verdana";"></span><br /></span>

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">The latest two are a Cornish Pixie and a Mandrake! I love the Cornish pixie, the little playful things they are! And Soma used such great colours in her block, this on is so fun. I enjoyed making this one and it came together so easily.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: "verdana";"></span><br /></span><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">So now there's just a Mandrake left, but as I have another month to do this one I must move on to some Christmas sewing! Time is marching on fast!</span><br />

</span> <span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><b>Wedding Anniversary Quilt</b></span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">I think my best finish so far this year (and possibly ever) has to be the 50th anniversary quilt I made my parents. The pattern was round and round by Thimble blossoms and I used a Simply Colourful II layer cake and a huge amount of Kona white! </span><br />

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br />
</span> <span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">The centre block contains my parents photo and around the edge are their five children on their wedding days. I included the 16 grand children under the respective parents too. Somehow I quilted this in a weekend (a tight deadline!) and was sewing the binding down on the aircraft flying to the surprise party. The final stitch were sewn just hours before the party began. There is more about this quilt <a href="http://createthepoint.blogspot.ca/2016/05/a-50th-wedding-anniversary-gift-finish.html" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">here</a>.</span><br />

</span> <span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><b>Mario Bros</b></span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">This next quilt was finished a couple of years ago and is another favourite of mine. Made for my son who was a Mario Bros fan. The pattern is by Angela at <a href="http://angelapingel.com/2012/06/super-mario-brothers-quilt-along.html" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Cut to Pieces</a> who ran it as a quilt along several years ago. I started making the blocks long after the quilt along had finished or I might have found it easier to keep on track. It took a long time to make these blocks, maybe something to do with the 3888, 1 inch pieces it comprises! I also found this one hard to quilt on my domestic machine, the size and weight made my shoulders ache after a while and it took me well over an hour a block despite chosing a simple stippling pattern!</span><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"> But I am so pleased with it, it keeps him warm and I love seeing it on his bed! You can read more and see more pictures </span><a href="http://createthepoint.blogspot.ca/2014/06/super-mario-finish.html" rel="nofollow" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;" target="_blank">here</a><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">.</span><br />

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><b>Dalek Pillow</b></span></div>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">My husband is a big Doctor Who fan and I just loved taking part in Soma (<a href="http://www.whimsandfancies.com/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Whims and Fancies</a>) and Caroline's (<a href="http://trilliumdesign.blogspot.ca/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Trillium Designs</a>) quilt along a while back. I must confess though that I still haven't sewn all the blocks together into a quilt! But I did complete this Dalek block and turn it into a finished cushion last Christmas. Their patterns are great, sometimes challenging, but so satisfying to finish. </span><br />

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><b>Friends for Christmas Wall hanging</b></span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">I am so pleased I have finally finished this quilt (a long term WIP). I has been on the go for quite a few years. I went right off appliqué half way through but picked it back up earlier this year determined to finish it. The pattern is by Lynette Andersen and I just love the reindeers. I quilted the background with an all over loops and stars and it makes the characters stand out more. <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">My mum and I have been challenging each other to do something new and together for the last few years. The latest challenge was to use some Oakshott fabrics I won in a competition. We each started with a center block (wonky star in my case) and then, a bit like a round robin, sent it to the other to add a section and then swap again. We continued like this until we'd reached a reasonable size. This is my finished wall hanging. I heavily quilted mine just because I like to experiment with new designs. <span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Well, I think that's enough for one trunk show. I hope you enjoyed the selection. Take a trip to <a href="http://www.whimsandfancies.com/trunk-full-of-quilts-2016/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Whims and Fancies</a> to see other trunk shows happening and maybe join in yourself. <span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I was tidying up my blog the other day and sorting through photos. I was removing some photos that were no longer needed. I obviously got a little over zealous hitting the mouse button and before I knew it I had managed to delete the whole image gallery! I was so mad! </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I have been going through adding the photos but it takes forever working out which image goes where and actually finding the images! So, there are still some pages with images missing! Hopefully I can restore them all eventually. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Lesson learnt, when deleting take it slow and careful!! </span></div>

</span> <span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">I have had this fabric for quite some time and have planned each year to make the kids some trick-or-treat bags rather than using the broken plastic tubs they have carried around for the last 4 years! Actually, I think the plastic tubs got thrown away in our recent move where we were quite ruthless! So it's a good job I finally made these. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br />
</span> <span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">I found a pattern <a href="http://thecottagemama.com/2014/10/halloween-trick-treat-bag-pattern/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">here</a> that pretty much met my needs and roughly copied it!</span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br />
</span> <span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">I started with a small appliqué pattern that I drew onto freezer paper and then sewed onto the background fabric using a zig zag stitch. </span></span><br />

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">I</span><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">nstagram is great for inspiration, community and fun, but such a distraction! </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"></span><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">I saw the #<a href="https://www.instagram.com/explore/tags/100days100blocks/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">100days100blocks</a> tag surface and catch on, like wild fire. So I just knew I wanted to play along too. In case you haven't seen it, it's a quilt along only on Instagram and organised by <a href="http://www.gnomeangel.com/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Gnome Angel</a>, <a href="http://www.sunflowerstitcheries.com/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Sunflower Quilting</a> and <a href="http://sweetlittlepretties.com/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Sweet Little Pretties</a>. Quite simply the challenge is to sew a block a day for 100 days using Tula Pink's City Sampler book.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">I have had the book for ages and aside from browsing it many times I have never done anything else with it. This was the perfect opportunity. I have also been hoarding a bundle of Reel Time fabrics by Zen Chic. So the perfect time to use some stash too.</span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-KhYKBA93jL8/V_xjutQFMYI/AAAAAAAADTM/MrVaiX3kT-w2kIiwvZDIeCcJ60pSTu2dQCLcB/s1600/IMG_8082.PNG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="390" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-KhYKBA93jL8/V_xjutQFMYI/AAAAAAAADTM/MrVaiX3kT-w2kIiwvZDIeCcJ60pSTu2dQCLcB/s400/IMG_8082.PNG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<span style="font-family: "verdana";"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">The sew along started on August 17, so we are two weeks into it, and so far so good. Generally I have been sewing the block on the day. I am trying to stay prepared by making sure I always have the next 3 blocks cut and ready to sew. They sew up so quick, I find it's choosing the fabrics that take me the longest time!</span><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"> Helping me out are these mini design boards. Although, I will confess that I have actually sewn some of the blocks due to be posted around Sept 1. We move house that day and I feel the chance of sewing is pretty slim! So I have a couple of blocks either side of that day done to take some pressure off.</span><span style="font-family: "verdana";"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana";"></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-44yiIZiDJkQ/V_xjZ9v-GqI/AAAAAAAADTI/Hgi01E4UoUIGNqUuK0JSYw75gztf8NbHgCLcB/s1600/IMG_7682.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="395" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-44yiIZiDJkQ/V_xjZ9v-GqI/AAAAAAAADTI/Hgi01E4UoUIGNqUuK0JSYw75gztf8NbHgCLcB/s400/IMG_7682.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Here are my first 15 blocks:</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-mtVjauRGhuw/V_xkXiQQ72I/AAAAAAAADTQ/szE5Oyz-eogGewYBo0cmynLx_861z1-EwCLcB/s1600/IMG_7725.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="385" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-mtVjauRGhuw/V_xkXiQQ72I/AAAAAAAADTQ/szE5Oyz-eogGewYBo0cmynLx_861z1-EwCLcB/s640/IMG_7725.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: "verdana";"></span>I am really liking where this is going. And hoping I can keep up with the schedule.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana";"></span><br />

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">If you are on Instagram you can follow along with my progress at </span><a href="http://www.instagram.com/createthepoint_100blocks" rel="nofollow" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;" target="_blank">createthepoint_100blocks</a><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">.</span></div>

<br /></div>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Hedwig was such a great choice for one of the first blocks in this quilt along. I loved making her and the pattern, as always, was great.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: "verdana";"></span><br />

</span> <span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br />
</span> <span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">And I completed her just in time for the next 2 blocks to be released today. Check out Soma's quilt along at <a href="http://www.whimsandfancies.com/lego-harry-potter-quilt-along/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Whims and Fancies</a>. Thank goodness we have two months to complete the next two blocks, September always seems to be a busy month.</span><br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-5yoRtV1GwB4/V_xp_gpn_cI/AAAAAAAADUA/rBkY6G602Holpd7JY6HXp3y7jMxdYQy3gCEw/s1600/lego_hp_qal-480.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-5yoRtV1GwB4/V_xp_gpn_cI/AAAAAAAADUA/rBkY6G602Holpd7JY6HXp3y7jMxdYQy3gCEw/s320/lego_hp_qal-480.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">It's been almost two weeks since the first two blocks of this quilt along were released, but I am finally making some progress! Just in time for the next two blocks to be released! :)</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: "verdana";"></span><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">The QAL is being run by Soma at <a href="http://www.whimsandfancies.com/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Whims and Fancies</a>, the details can be found <a href="http://www.whimsandfancies.com/lego-harry-potter-quilt-along/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">here</a>, for anyone interested.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: "verdana";"></span><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">First up on my cutting board is Hermione's bookcase. </span><br />
<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/--S3P_n3qrL0/V_xo8t55e0I/AAAAAAAADT0/uHcveglNVbkTQMP0GCziKUkRPzzH5qPvQCEw/s1600/hp_1_bookshelf-640.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/--S3P_n3qrL0/V_xo8t55e0I/AAAAAAAADT0/uHcveglNVbkTQMP0GCziKUkRPzzH5qPvQCEw/s320/hp_1_bookshelf-640.jpg" width="213" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Image from <a href="http://whimsandfancies.com/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Whims and Fancies</a></span></td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<span style="font-family: "verdana";"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">I am pulling all the fabrics from my stash for this one. With all the pieces cut up in a neat pile there seemed rather a lot!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana";"></span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-FT9OC7709C8/V_xn0n99pHI/AAAAAAAADTk/6ygtE3tPJ_0fCf6ayl_mwiotVZ3uQYIMwCEw/s1600/IMG_7458.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-FT9OC7709C8/V_xn0n99pHI/AAAAAAAADTk/6ygtE3tPJ_0fCf6ayl_mwiotVZ3uQYIMwCEw/s320/IMG_7458.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">This is a large block at 24" x 12". Although some pieces are quite small. That pretty little moon is only 3.5" square and made up of 31 pieces !!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-HY6VZOTAtMM/V_xoeBwoJlI/AAAAAAAADTw/yWch7iZCXBsmkI1JvyNUZAwwi3HDJhVfQCLcB/s1600/IMG_7484.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="font-family: -webkit-standard; margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-HY6VZOTAtMM/V_xoeBwoJlI/AAAAAAAADTw/yWch7iZCXBsmkI1JvyNUZAwwi3HDJhVfQCLcB/s320/IMG_7484.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"></span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana";"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">The pattern has 4 pictures on the doors, and that moon is one of them. The pattern suggests fussy cutting pieces of fabric for these space. But when I saw Soma's block with the moon, hat, star and vile I just knew my collection of fabrics was not going to provide me with anything close to those. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: "verdana";"></span><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Soma so very kindly provided some extra patterns for these pieces. And I am so thankful and touched by her generosity, they are excellent and make the block perfect.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: "verdana";"></span><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">And the final block does not disappoint! Here it is.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: "verdana";"></span><br /></span>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: "verdana";"></span><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Next up is Hedwig, but I'm not sure I'll get that one finished before the next two blocks are released later this month. Because, see all those totes sitting there in my messy sewing room, they need filling!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: "verdana";"></span><br /></span>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: "verdana";"></span><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">We are moving house on September 1st , just 5 days before the kids start the new school year! Not perfect timing, and certainly not of our choosing! The joy of renting.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Off to prep Hedwig in the hope I can finish him before the move, good to have a deadline. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Happy sewing!</span><br />
